2 Nephi 9:10-20

10 O how great the goodness of our God, who prepareth a way for our escape from the grasp of this awful monster; yea, that monster, death and hell, which I call the death of the body, and also the death of the spirit.

11 And because of the way of deliverance of our God, the Holy One of Israel, this death, of which I have spoken, which is the temporal, shall deliver up its dead; which death is the grave.

12 And this death of which I have spoken, which is the spiritual death, shall deliver up its dead; which spiritual death is hell; wherefore, death and hell must deliver up their dead, and hell must deliver up its captive spirits, and the grave must deliver up its captive bodies, and the bodies and the spirits of men will be restored one to the other; and it is by the power of the resurrection of the Holy One of Israel.

13 O how great the plan of our God! For on the other hand, the paradise of God must deliver up the spirits of the righteous, and the grave deliver up the body of the righteous; and the spirit and the body is restored to itself again, and all men become incorruptible, and immortal, and they are living souls, having a perfect knowledge like unto us in the flesh, save it be that our knowledge shall be perfect.

14 Wherefore, we shall have a perfect knowledge of all our guilt, and our uncleanness, and our nakedness; and the righteous shall have a perfect knowledge of their enjoyment, and their righteousness, being clothed with purity, yea, even with the robe of righteousness.

15 And it shall come to pass that when all men shall have passed from this first death unto life, insomuch as they have become immortal, they must appear before the judgment-seat of the Holy One of Israel; and then cometh the judgment, and then must they be judged according to the holy judgment of God.

16 And assuredly, as the Lord liveth, for the Lord God hath spoken it, and it is his eternal word, which cannot pass away, that they who are righteous shall be righteous still, and they who are filthy shall be filthy still; wherefore, they who are filthy are the devil and his angels; and they shall go away into everlasting fire, prepared for them; and their torment is as a lake of fire and brimstone, whose flame ascendeth up forever and ever and has no end.

17 O the greatness and the justice of our God! For he executeth all his words, and they have gone forth out of his mouth, and his law must be fulfilled.

18 But, behold, the righteous, the saints of the Holy One of Israel, they who have believed in the Holy One of Israel, they who have endured the crosses of the world, and despised the shame of it, they shall inherit the kingdom of God, which was prepared for them from the foundation of the world, and their joy shall be full forever.

19 O the greatness of the mercy of our God, the Holy One of Israel! For he delivereth his saints from that awful monster the devil, and death, and hell, and that lake of fire and brimstone, which is endless torment.

20 O how great the holiness of our God! For he knoweth all things, and there is not anything save he knows it.

Love you, Care Bear!

Email from Walker Center

This is an email my dad wanted to share that he sent and received from a counselor from The Walker Center in Boise:

"I am sorry for your loss. Thank you for informing me of the situation. I will keep you and your family in my prayers. My memories of Carey are all good and I am thankful for the brief time that he shared his light with me."

Jeremy Blades, BS, CADC

"Carey was at the Walker Center the fall of 2007 under your direction. We found him dead on Aug. 2, 2009 kneeling at his bed. Carey had been clean for almost 2 years. The many pressures of debt collectors, old “friends”, a beat up body, not able to get a good job because of his history, and pressures of the world took his life. His heart just gave up. At the time of his death he was clean of all Courts with no record, only some outstanding fines. We are still waiting for the Medical Examination’s report, but we assume drugs were the cause.

We know he is in a better place and we will be with him again. We as parents thank you and the Walker Center for what you did in his recovery. Thought you would like to know."

Carey's Obituary

Carey Clyde Hawkins

November 21, 1983 ~ August 2, 2009

Carey Clyde Hawkins passed away August 2, 2009 at the home of his parents, Clyde and Lorraine Hawkins, of Mapleton, Utah. He is a beloved son, uncle, brother, and friend.

He is survived by his parents, Clyde W. Hawkins and Lorraine Hasler Hawkins, his four older brothers, Claine (Julie), Casey (MyKel), Cameron (Rachel), and Corey, and his two sisters, Crystal (Jared) and Cherish (Herb).

He loved life and was a joy to be around. He especially loved being around and spending time with his nieces and nephews, Kamryn, Taylor, Hayli, Sam, Trey, Kate, Hayden (Deceased), Jake, Ella, Kole, and Gentry.

Carey graduated from Timpanogos High School in Orem. He enjoyed playing baseball, softball, basketball, snowboarding, wakeboarding, hunting, and just spending time outdoors with his family and friends. Carey is an Eagle Scout and even received the Scouting Life Saving Award for saving a child from a burning building. The despair and discouragement following years of his valiant battle against drug dependency took our beloved Carey back into his Heavenly Father's merciful and tender care.

Carey had a way with people, his charisma and genuine love and friendship for everyone was contagious. He had a huge heart and was often referred to as "Care Bear" by his family and friends and will always be remembered for his open arms attitude. He was always one to give some of the best and biggest hugs. He will be missed and was most certainly loved.

His family will be holding a Viewing and Funeral in remembrance of his life here on earth.

There will be a viewing on Thursday evening, August 6, 2009, from 6-8 p.m. at the Mapleton 11th Ward, 1580 N. Main Street, Mapleton, Utah. Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 7, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at the Windsor 4th Ward Chapel, 1875 North 280 West, Orem, Utah. Family and friends may call at the church on Friday from 9:30-10:45 a.m. prior to services. Interment will be in the Midway City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the LDS Humanitarian Fund.

carey,
Of all the times we always wrestled and fooled around, I never told you how much u meant to me and cherish. You were like a brother to me. Lol i even remember the first words you ever said to me when we first met.-"you hurt my sister and i will hurt you" You were always there when we had our trials and fights and always brought us closer together. You meant so much to Cherish and were always the one she looked up too. I just hope God has a bike up there for you so u can cruise the long highways and never have an empty road to ride. You will be greatly missed and hope that one day we can ride the roads together and blaze our own trails
