one year later...

It's been a year since we lost my little brother. It's been a year of heartaches, trials, tears, smiles, laughter, growth, change and peace. I saw him in a home video last night and my heart ached at not being able to get a great big Bear hug from him. We love and miss you Care Bear!!! Not a day goes by that we don't think about you!

May 24

The other day, a few of us went up to Midway to see Carey's grave. It was different from previous times that we had gone. No tears of pain were shed. It was peaceful this time. I am so grateful for time and the Spirit that heals our hearts. The Lord knows exactly how to help us through our grief. He knows our hearts.

This September 11th my husband Herb and I are going to be sealed! I am also doing my endowment the week previous. We can do Carey's work too. How exciting! I don't know what Carey is doing up there but I know that he's with me more now than he was when he was alive. He is always going to be my big brother watching out for me!

How blessed we are to have temple work to bind our families together for all eternity!

Hey bud, the family can't wait to get your temple work done in September! Herb and I are getting sealed Sept. 11th. Before I got married dad's blessing was important but I gotta say that you were always my big brother, my protector. When I saw that you loved Herb like a brother, that blessing meant a lot to me! Now Herb is my protector and you are there for me in spirit. thanks bud miss you so much!

Carey's Gravestone

Last Sunday, we drove up to Midway to see Carey's gravestone. It turned out really nice. My parents used the drawing Carey drew in jail a couple of years ago of the cabin. Carey always found peace at the cabin, so it is only fitting to have it with him forever. Miss you, Care Bear!

Festival of Trees

The past few weeks, my mom worked really hard to put together a Christmas tree for the Festival of Trees. With help from her friend, Connie, she did a tree in memory of my little brother, Carey. We often referred Carey to Care Bear, so she did the tree all in Care Bears. It turned out very darling!!! As a family last night, we went to the Festival to see it. If you get a chance to go to the Festival, make sure you check out the tree on Row K at the very north east corner. And we are excited that the tree did sell and all proceeds go to the Primary Children's Hospital.
